Perspectives // Adios Blogspot

We all view life from behind our very own coloured perspectives. What we look at is the same thing, but we interpret it in different hues.

This will be my last post on this blog. I have started a Flickr account. Hope your support and encouragement ensues there too. :).

Embrace

Took this pic on a sudden whim. It seemed like the old, wrinkled tree was hugging this young, virile, green plant. Seemed like eternity embracing the present. The old giving the new, a hug. The warmth of the gnarled embrace seemed to make the green leaves all the more greener.

Sometimes the greatest expression of acceptance,
and the greatest declaration of kinsmanship,
is nothing more than a hug.

Obsession

I confess. I do have a thing for earrings and I do have a penchant for red things. When I got this dangler that is both, I simply had to. Kindly bear with my obsession.

Red as the breast of a robin
red as the petals of a rose
red as a beet-red lip
my fiery red earring glows.

Rusting memories

The motor scooter was parked in a small stone paved alley off the bustling market street of Udaipur. The melancholy clutter and the Bajaj parked against the wall contrasted with the colourful tourist-y roads that you passed into once you crossed under the arch.

In the shadows of the dark walls
I parked my rusty memories
to serve as a reminder
everytime I pass underneath
the arch - from what was, into what is.

Confusion

A confusion of spirals dominated an entire square off the exit gate of the Udaipur palace. For the life of me, I can't figure out what they are. Candle stands maybe?

And the spirals like a conspiring universe,
Like swallowing serpents - tail in mouth
Rested their heads in a clutter
In the confused alleys of my mind.

The Sauna

Before entering into the Brahma Kumari park at Mt Abu, our eyes came to a standstill on the golden heads bobbing from behind the enticing steam that lifted off their perfect, seductive bodies. We were compelled to stop and indulge our salivating selves before moving on.

In the sauna, hot & sweaty
On the racks with family
We dip our toes in some warm water
Heads engulfed in a mist sultry

The Wait

One an early January winter's morning in Delhi, I ventured into the balcony of a friend's house to find this pigeon nesting in one of the pots, lending warmth to her eggs.

A tiny miracle lies
Beating close to my heart
For it I wait, a patient wait
- for the tiny miracle to start

Fame

The view of the sun set, the rays dancing off the glistening cotton clouds just below you and a glimpse of the ground bathed in orange light - a sight to behold indeed. Especially when flying mid air. And then, in a few minutes it vanishes - almost like fame. Catch an evening flight next time and see it for yourself.

Like the sun over my golden wings
it set in fiery glory beyond
when for a moment I flew off the ground
when my feet once 'down to earth' lifted
it left in an orange halo
- the fickle rays of fame

Orange Sighs

Little orange flowers littered the wall between the houses one evening. They just lay there like little corpses, unmoving and then, when the winds sighed, they blew away.

We are the Dead. Short hours ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved, and were loved, and now we lie
In orange sighs.

Devouring Darkness

Happy Diwali to all of you. If someone could tell me how best to capture the flame with a normal digital camera ( I have a Sony Cybershot W-110), I would me highly obliged. I kept trying for almost an hour, but this was the best I could come up with.

In Immortality's Light,
Darkness dies.

Does the Moon move or Do the Clouds?

The moon, framed between the two hostels was breathtaking as we viewed it standing on the mess lawns. I was initially trying to capture just the moon. Subhash taught me how to frame this one along with the buildings and a bit of the lawn.

Bright with glad mad rapture, fierce with glee,
Laughs the moon, borne on past cloud's o'ertaking
Fast, it seems, as wind or sail can flee.

The Green Stone

One of my favorite earrings. Just got back from dinner and was taking the earring off when I just clicked a pic of it. Then, focal black and white did its magic. Im in love with this pic (yes yes, narcissism). I think I'll make a header of this pic for the blog.

After that evening rain,
I wore earring he gave me
and we bonded our love
With the first kiss.

Such a Long Journey

Took this pic when the bus crossed the railway track. It came out clearer than I expected it would.

A beautiful journey began late one morn
In this special place, not known for such things
It was on that morning on these tracks was born
a love still gives my thoughts wings
I’ll always recall, even now that our time has passed
That pre-destined moment in God’s perfect plan
When through the spring rains, I chose to hold your hand
And my beautiful journey with you, began

Green Leaves

Found these leaves curling up against the wall, in the garden. They seemed brimming with life and playfulness.

The leaves had a wonderful frolic.
They danced to the wind's loud song.
They whirled, and they floated, and swayed.
They nodded their green heads and sang along.
